This sound appears in the words such as ‘see’, ‘heating’, ‘clean’, and ‘eve’.  

The sound can very easily be confused with the /ɪ/ sound. For example:

‘seat’ vs ‘sit’

‘heat’ vs ‘hit’

‘sheet’ vs ‘sh*t’
